State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry has said Afghan soil is being used for terrorism in Pakistan, while claiming that the so-called Action Committee in Azad Jammu and Kashmir was banned on the basis of concrete evidence.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Chaudhry said intelligence-based operations against terrorists were continuing across the country. Several videos were also played during the press conference.

He said the “Terror Crime Network” was facilitating terrorist activities in Pakistan. According to him, the investigation into the network began with the arrest of a man identified as Zia, a resident of Azad Kashmir who had allegedly been involved in the arms trade for the past eight to 10 years.

Chaudhry claimed that Zia had been supplying weapons to people close to the banned Jammu and Kashmir Public Action Committee (JAC) for the past two years.

He said Zia was arrested after security forces came under fire, and information about the network was recovered from his mobile phone.

According to the minister, Zia was in contact with a man identified as Majid, who he claimed was a close associate of Sardar Aman, an active member of the banned JAC. An audio recording of a conversation between the two was also played at the press conference.

Chaudhry further claimed that Zia had links with a person named Zarshad in Afghanistan who supplied him with weapons. He said Zarshad operated from different cities in Afghanistan.

He added that another man identified as Akbar, who is a government employee, was also allegedly part of the network.
