Security forces continue to carry out intelligence-based operations across Bannu district. In the latest operation in Baka Khel tehsil, three more militants were killed, while Bannu Police arrested 28 suspects during search operations in the Noorar and Mambati Barakzai areas of Miryan tehsil.

According to security sources, the operation in Baka Khel was launched after intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants at a suspected hideout. Three militants were killed during an exchange of fire.

Officials said the scope of operations against militants, their facilitators, and hideouts has been further expanded across the district. Security forces and Bannu Police are currently conducting intelligence-based and targeted operations in Baka Khel, Jani Khel, Miryan, Sarra Dargah, and Wazir Sub-Division.

The intensified operations follow the failed suicide attack on Miryan Police Station on 15 July, in which a vehicle packed with explosives was intercepted before reaching its target. Search and clearance operations began the following day in Baka Khel and Miryan, during which residents reported hearing multiple explosions.

Security sources said the explosions were caused by explosives and ammunition stored inside militant hideouts detonating as security forces cleared the affected areas.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that 24 militants had been killed in various intelligence-based operations in Bannu over the previous 24 hours. The latest operation in Baka Khel has further increased the number of militants killed in recent days.

Sources added that additional security personnel and armored vehicles have been deployed in Jani Khel and surrounding areas following clearance operations to consolidate the gains achieved.

Security measures have been further tightened across the district. Mobile phone and internet services have been temporarily suspended in operational areas, while residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary movement and immediately report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

Officials said intelligence-based and targeted operations will continue until militant hideouts, facilitators, and logistical networks are completely dismantled.
