The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Department has prepared two separate budgets for the fiscal year 2026-27, according to sources within the provincial government.
Sources said that an emergency budget worth more than Rs385 billion has been drafted to cover the first three months of the upcoming fiscal year. Meanwhile, a second budget with a total outlay of Rs2.275 trillion has also been prepared for the entire fiscal year 2026-27.
According to sources, the provincial government has constituted legal and parliamentary committees under Article 125 to review and finalize the three-month budget proposal.
Sources further revealed that Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is recommending a budget covering only the first three months of the fiscal year, while members of the provincial assembly are proposing a full-year budget.

Under the proposed quarterly budget, only current expenditures and non-developmental expenses will be approved. No funds will be allocated for development projects across the province during the three-month budget period, sources added.
The sources also stated that recommendations submitted by the parliamentary and legal committees will be sent to the party’s political committee for final approval before any decision is implemented.
