Heavy monsoon rains have caused multiple incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Rustam tehsil of Mardan district, two children were killed and two others injured after the roof of a room collapsed, while in Landi Kotal tehsil of Khyber district, two vehicles were swept away by flash floods. No casualties were reported in the flooding incidents.

According to Rescue 1122, the roof collapse occurred in Kalo Dheri village of Rustam during heavy rainfall. Two-year-old Muhammad Hussain and one-year-old Zanera lost their lives, while Muhammad Tahir's wife and his 14-year-old daughter sustained serious injuries. Rescue teams reached the site immediately and shifted the injured to Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) after providing first aid.

Meanwhile, in Landi Kotal, torrential rains triggered flash floods that swept away vehicles at two separate locations. Police said a car was carried away by strong currents near Zakariya Mosque, but all passengers managed to escape safely.

In another incident near Sultan Khel Market on the Pakistan-Afghanistan Highway, a vehicle carrying Afghan families travelling to Afghanistan was swept away by floodwaters. Local residents launched an immediate rescue operation and safely evacuated all passengers.

Separately, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan said monsoon rains continue across the province, with reports of flash floods from several districts. He said that, on the instructions of Chief Minister Suhail Afridi, the province's Monsoon Contingency Plan has been fully activated.

According to the minister, emergency plans, control rooms and rescue systems are operational in all 37 districts. Rescue 1122 personnel have been deployed in the field, while water rescue points, relief camps, heavy machinery and emergency supplies have been placed on standby.

He urged citizens to avoid rivers, streams and flood-prone areas during heavy rainfall, follow official safety advisories, and cooperate with the police and local administration, particularly in tourist areas.
