BAJAUR: Two young girls have died and six other members of the same family have been shifted to Peshawar for treatment after eight people from a household in Banda Gai, Utmankhel tehsil of Bajaur, suddenly fell ill. District authorities, the health department, and police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
According to sources, the incident occurred on the night of June 24 when members of the family of Hussain Khan, residents of Maskini, suddenly developed severe health complications. They were rushed to a hospital, but 8-year-old Alisha Bibi and 5-year-old Pakiza Bibi died during treatment.
The remaining family members — Rubina Bibi, Suleman, Rizwan, Adil, Shaifa Bibi, and Nahida Bibi — were provided initial medical care before being referred to Peshawar, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Following the incident, the district administration and the Health Department’s Outbreak Response Team visited the affected house and collected evidence. Officials said water samples from the household have been sent to a laboratory after authorities suspected a possible waterborne illness. Medical reports of the affected individuals are also being reviewed.

Local residents said the family had no known enmity with anyone.
