Two wanted suspects, identified as Ikhtiarullah, son of Najeebullah, and Nauman alias Tore, son of Dilawar, were killed during a police encounter in the Regi area of Peshawar, while several of their accomplices managed to escape.

According to police, an AK-47 rifle, a hand grenade, and a pistol were recovered from the possession of the deceased suspects.

Police said they had received intelligence that proclaimed offenders involved in the Tehkal Police Station attack and wanted in multiple serious criminal cases — including Adil alias Aadlay, Aqib, Sherdil (sons of Alamgir), Ikhtiarullah, and Nauman — were hiding in the Regi area.

Acting on the information, a police team led by the DSP Town, along with the SHO Tehkal, Town Police, SHO Regi, and additional personnel, conducted raids on the suspects' suspected hideouts. However, the suspects had fled before the police arrived.

According to police, while the raiding party was returning and reached near the Regi graveyard, the suspects, who were already lying in wait, opened indiscriminate fire on the police. A police pickup vehicle was damaged in the exchange of fire.

Police said that during the retaliatory firing, the suspects' own gunfire hit two of their accomplices, resulting in the deaths of Ikhtiarullah, a resident of University Town, and Nauman alias Tore, originally from Kalam and currently residing in Tehkal Bala. The remaining wanted suspects managed to flee the scene.

Police said both the deceased and the absconding suspects were wanted in the attack on Tehkal Police Station (FIR No. 769, dated July 28, 2026) and in FIR No. 514 registered at Regi Police Station on August 3, 2026.

Police recovered an AK-47 rifle, a hand grenade, and a pistol from the deceased suspects, while search operations are underway in different areas to arrest the fleeing suspects.
