Peshawar: Unidentified individuals set fire to the snooker club owned by journalist Khalil Gibran and shattered the windows of the snooker hall.

After setting the snooker hall on fire, the unknown perpetrators allegedly posted a notice claiming that the snooker hall was a den of vice and was burned down for this reason. The notice also stated that their targets include security forces, spies, and people spreading immorality.

This incident has instilled fear among the local residents and journalists.

It is worth noting that the late journalist Khalil Gibran was killed by unknown assailants on June 18. Meanwhile, a protest for the twelfth consecutive day was held at Charwazgai in Landi Kotal, demanding justice for Khalil Gibran's family, a martyr's package, the arrest of the killers, and the restoration of peace.

Speakers at the protest strongly condemned the arson and vandalism of Khalil Gibran's snooker hall in the market the previous day. They sharply criticized law enforcement agencies and the police, emphasizing that extremists and miscreants have continued to appear late at night since the Khalil incident.

However, no action has been taken against them so far, which raises suspicions. The speakers declared that the national protest would continue until Khalil Gibran's killers are arrested. They also called for securing the markets in Khyber and ensuring day and night patrols on the highways. Addressing the protest, the speakers said that the public is perplexed about what is happening to them. If the government cannot restore law and order, it should openly admit its failure so that the tribal people can take their safety into their own hands.

They urged all tribes and youth in Landi Kotal to come out into the field and join the protest instead of staying at home, warning that no one's life and honor would be safe otherwise. They also criticized social media activists, urging them to play an active role on the ground rather than merely observing the situation online, as further unrest could leave nothing intact.
