PESHAWAR – The U.S. government, in collaboration with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (GoKP), organized a “Zameen Mela” (Land Fair) at the Serena Hotel in Peshawar, aimed at driving economic growth and development in the region. The event sought to spark public interest in land registration within the Merged Areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), highlighting a streamlined and accessible registration process while showcasing the expanding opportunities in the province's real estate market.
In the wake of the merger between KP and the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas, the KP government, alongside development partners, is reshaping land registration and real estate practices to stimulate economic development. The Zameen Mela served as a platform, bringing together key stakeholders from the real estate industry, government, media, and local communities to discuss and promote land registration and investment opportunities in these regions.
Speaking at the event, U.S. Consul General Shante Moore reaffirmed the U.S. government’s commitment to supporting KP’s economic development, stating, “Together, we’re working toward a future where every person in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in the Merged Areas, can thrive and prosper.”
Secretary of the Board of Revenue, GoKP, Kashif Nadeem, emphasized the significance of investment in the Merged Areas, noting, “Every business startup or investment made in the merged areas – despite the challenges – represents hope for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We are committed to creating a supportive environment for these districts to grow and thrive. The land settlement program is a vital part of this effort.”
The U.S. government has invested $1.7 billion in development assistance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2008, underscoring its enduring partnership with the region's people and government and highlighting its crucial role in advancing the province's growth and development.
