The initial inquiry report into the Islamabad PIMS tragedy has been submitted to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, highlighting inadequate medical and treatment facilities at PIMS Hospital. The report states that none of the hospital’s facilities meet international standards and recommends immediate action against those responsible.

The inquiry committee has identified the causes of the tragedy and determined responsibility. It also highlighted problems faced by rescue teams during relief operations and recommended action against relevant staff members who were absent.

The report includes several recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future. Interviews with PIMS administration and doctors, as well as statements from the fire brigade and rescue teams, have also been included.

According to sources, the report was submitted by the inquiry committee’s head and former Interior Secretary Shahid Khan. It was handed over late at night to Prime Minister’s Adviser Tauqeer Shah, who forwarded it to the prime minister and briefed him on its contents and recommendations.

Sources in the inquiry committee confirmed that the report had been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office. It bears the signatures of all committee members, while the authority to make the report public has been left to the prime minister.
