The federal government has approved a 250% Security Risk Allowance on the existing basic salary for officers of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) and Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) posted in terrorism-affected and highly sensitive districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The special Security Risk Allowance will be paid by the federal government, and the financial burden will not fall on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
The approved allowance will be available to officers posted in 27 districts declared terrorism-affected and highly sensitive. However, Swabi and the districts of Hazara Division will not be included in the facility.
To qualify for the allowance, officers must be posted in Peshawar and Khyber in the Peshawar Region. The Mardan Region includes Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera and Mohmand.

Similarly, the Kohat Region includes Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Kurram and Orakzai; the Bannu Region includes Bannu, Lakki Marwat and North Waziristan; while the Dera Ismail Khan Region includes Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Upper South Waziristan and Lower South Waziristan.
In the Malakand Region, officers posted in Swat, Buner, Shangla, Bajaur, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Lower Chitral and Upper Chitral will also be entitled to the Security Risk Allowance.
On the other hand, PAS and PSP officers posted in Swabi and the Hazara Division districts of Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, Kolai-Palas, Upper Kohistan and Lower Kohistan will not be eligible for the allowance.
