Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, held an important press conference on counterterrorism and security, stating that his remarks would primarily focus on the situation in Balochistan. He said that 7,177 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) had been conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while 31,080 IBOs were carried out in Balochistan.

He said that 3,145 terrorism-related incidents had been recorded across Pakistan so far this year, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan being the most affected provinces. According to him, security forces have killed 2,084 militants during counterterrorism operations this year, averaging nearly 10 militants eliminated per day.

The DG ISPR further stated that 819 people have been martyred so far this year, including 303 Pakistan Army personnel, 394 members of law enforcement agencies, and 322 civilians. On average, he said, four people have sacrificed their lives each day in the fight against terrorism.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif said that 28 suicide attacks had taken place so far this year, adding that, as in the previous year, the suicide bombers involved were Afghan nationals. According to him, Afghan nationals were found to be involved in all suicide attacks, including those in Tank and Karachi, while Afghan nationals and their affiliates were also among those targeted in Pakistan Army operations.

He said that large-scale counterterrorism operations had been conducted over the past five years, but a deliberate negative propaganda campaign was being carried out regarding Balochistan. He maintained that the Constitution and the law apply equally to everyone in Pakistan, and that all matters are dealt with strictly in accordance with the Constitution.

The DG ISPR added that 2,091 intelligence-based operations had also been conducted in other parts of the country. He said that the Constitution obliges every citizen to remain loyal to the state and uphold it, emphasizing that rights must be accompanied by the fulfillment of responsibilities.

Referring to the recent address by the Field Marshal, he said that people often talk about their rights while overlooking their responsibilities. He stressed the need to make citizens more aware of their national duties, adding that every Pakistani's first and foremost identity should be Pakistan, and that loyalty to the state is a fundamental responsibility of every citizen.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif concluded by saying, "If there is a state, there is politics; if there is a state, there is life; if there is a state, there is identity." He urged citizens to reflect on whether they are fulfilling their national responsibilities with the seriousness they deserve.
