A major irregularity has surfaced in the Lower Waziristan Education Department, where 17 female teachers have been absent from duty for the past two years but continue to receive their monthly salaries without interruption.

According to sources, these teachers were appointed in various government schools but stopped attending for unknown reasons. Shockingly, no strict action has been taken, nor has any inquiry been conducted into their prolonged absence.

Parents Outraged Over Negligence

Residents and parents have expressed deep concern, stating that such negligence is putting students’ futures at risk. One frustrated parent remarked, “Our children are being deprived of their basic right to education while these teachers get paid for doing nothing.”

This is not the first case of such misconduct; similar scandals have surfaced in Lower Waziristan and other tribal districts in the past. Experts stress the urgent need for transparency, strict monitoring, and reforms in the education department to prevent such issues.

Severe Shortage of Female Teachers

Only eight teaching positions were recently advertised, whereas if these 17 absentee teachers had been held accountable, there would have been 25 active female teachers in the region. This severe negligence has deprived Lower Waziristan’s students of proper education for two years.

The people of Lower Waziristan have urged Deputy Commissioner Nasir to take immediate legal action against the District Education Officer (DEO) and ensure accountability for this serious misconduct.
