Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Upper Districts to Experience Rain and Snowfall from Tomorrow

PDMA has issued an advisory to district administrations, urging them to be prepared for any emergency situations arising from rain and snowfall. Authorities have been instructed to ensure the availability of necessary machinery.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast rain and snowfall in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa starting February 19, with the spell expected to continue until February 20.

According to PDMA, thunderstorms and intermittent rain are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Malakand, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, and Kohat. Snowfall is also likely in some mountainous regions.

PDMA Issues Precautionary Directives

PDMA has issued an advisory to district administrations, urging them to be prepared for any emergencies arising from rain and snowfall. Authorities have been instructed to ensure the availability of necessary machinery.

  • Avoid electric wires, old buildings, signboards, and billboards during heavy rains.
  • Farmers should plan their activities according to the weather forecast.
  • Residents of sensitive upper regions should stay updated on weather conditions and take necessary precautions.
  • Local administrations in high-risk districts must ensure public safety messages are conveyed in local languages.

Emergency Response Plan

  • All relevant departments must remain alert for road clearance operations.
  • In case of road closures, alternative routes should be provided.
  • Tourists are advised to check road conditions before traveling by contacting PDMA’s helpline.
  • The PDMA emergency center is fully operational, and the public can report any incidents by calling 1700.
