Kurram Conflict Not Just a Land Dispute, Foreign Forces Involved: CM Gandapur

"Those who claim it's just a land dispute are avoiding the truth. Land disputes happen in many places, but they don’t lead to entire regions rising. A land dispute is usually between a few individuals or a single community," he remarked.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has stated that the conflict in Kurram is not merely a land dispute but a sectarian issue, with foreign forces actively involved in fueling the unrest.

Speaking at an event in Peshawar and later addressing the media, Gandapur emphasized that the Kurram issue has been ongoing for 103 years. "Those who claim it's just a land dispute are avoiding the truth. Land disputes happen in many places, but they don’t lead to entire regions rising. A land dispute is usually between a few individuals or a single community," he remarked.

He accused foreign elements of investing heavily in the conflict, supplying weapons, ammunition, and heavy artillery to escalate sectarian tensions. "These forces want to use the spark in Kurram to ignite sectarian strife across the country," he warned.

The chief minister asserted that if the issue could be resolved through Jirgas, it would be ideal; otherwise, the government was fully prepared to take action. "Terrorists involved in Kurram will not be spared," he declared.

Highlighting the level of external involvement, he pointed out the advanced weaponry being used in the conflict. "We are taking strong measures—installing CCTV cameras worth Rs 2 billion and announcing bounties. There will be no retreat. Those responsible for spreading terrorism will face justice," he concluded.
