A police officer was shot dead by unknown assailants while heading to polio duty in Peshawar. According to initial details, Police Constable Shah Nawaz was on his way to work on his motorcycle early in the morning after visiting his home. He was shot on the way, resulting in his death.

Constable Shah Nawaz was assigned to polio duty at the Sara Khaora camp of the Mattani police station. Upon receiving the information, police officers, along with a heavy contingent, promptly arrived at the scene. Empty Kalashnikov shells were recovered from the crime site, and a search operation has been initiated in the area.

Preliminary information suggests that the constable had an ongoing feud with Noor Ahmed and others, which had led to a confrontation earlier in the morning. It is suspected that this enmity might have led to the shooting, but it is still too early to confirm. SP Muhammad Zaman Khan stated that a thorough investigation is underway, exploring various aspects related to the incident.

This incident follows recent attacks on polio teams and officials in Lakki Marwat and the Chaman area of Balochistan, highlighting the risks faced by those involved in polio eradication efforts.
