In Peshawar, lengthy negotiations between the Bara Political Alliance and government officials ended successfully, after which the government accepted all demands presented by the alliance.
Following the talks, both sides also agreed to convene a grand jirga next Friday to improve the law and order situation in Bara and Akakhel, while a formal announcement regarding the return of Tirah displaced persons is also expected during the jirga.
Addressing the sit-in, political and social leaders said that the people of Tirah have been suffering for years due to insecurity, displacement and a lack of basic facilities. However, they said the government’s acceptance of the demands has created a new wave of hope among the affected people.
Speakers vowed to ensure lasting peace in Bara, Akakhel and the Tirah Valley, dignified return of displaced persons, payment of compensation for destroyed houses, restoration of livelihoods and transparent implementation of development projects.
It is worth mentioning that the Bara Political Alliance had presented a 14-point charter of demands for the resolution of issues faced by Tirah displaced persons and local residents. The demands included the return of displaced families, permission for agricultural activities, payment of relief funds, details of development packages, transparency in government jobs, compensation for damaged houses and restoration of peace in the region.

Meanwhile, a protest rally organized by the Bara Political Alliance was taken out from Bara Bazaar, in which Tirah displaced persons residing in different areas of Khyber district and Peshawar, along with youth, elders, tribal leaders and representatives of various political parties participated. The participants were also welcomed at different points upon entering Peshawar.
When the rally reached the Pushta Khara Ring Road Chowk, tensions erupted between police and protesters. Police fired tear gas shells while attempting to stop the demonstrators from entering Peshawar Cantt, further intensifying the situation.
Later, the protesters blocked the Pushta Khara Ring Road until evening in protest, severely affecting the flow of traffic.
Representing the political alliance in the negotiating jirga were President Hashim Khan, Haji Shireen, Shah Faisal and Malik Ataullah, while the government side included the Commissioner Peshawar, IG FC, Chief Secretary, DC Khyber, ADC Khyber and other officials.
