KURRAM: The dismantling of bunkers as part of the peace agreement continues in the  Kurram district, with operations now extending from Lower Kurram to Upper Kurram. According to the district administration, two bunkers have been demolished in the Pewar and Gedo areas of Upper Kurram, while more than 30 bunkers have already been taken down in Lower Kurram.

Government sources estimate that over 250 bunkers exist across the Kurram district, with ongoing efforts to dismantle them as per the jirga's decision. The removal of these bunkers was a key clause in the agreement reached between the conflicting parties, following a jirga and subsequent Apex Committee meeting aimed at restoring peace in the region.

Meanwhile, the transportation of food and other essential supplies into Kurram continues through organized convoys, ensuring the steady flow of goods amid ongoing peace efforts.

How Will the Parties Surrender Their Weapons?

In line with the jirga's decisions, both parties involved in the conflict have submitted their plans for surrendering weapons to the Kohat Commissioner. Sources indicate that the district administration, police, and law enforcement agencies will assist in the disarmament process.

Parties will retain the right to inspect their surrendered weapons at any time and they can keep licensed legal firearms, with licenses issued by the government. This structured approach ensures transparency and trust between the parties and authorities as Kurram moves towards lasting peace.
