The post-mortem report of Ayesha, an orphan girl who died six days ago in an orphanage in the Munda area of Lower Dir district, has yet to be released.

According to her family, they had recently admitted Ayesha to the Dar-ul-Umar orphanage, but she died under mysterious circumstances six days ago.

Zia-ul-Haq, the orphanage director, claimed that Ayesha's death was accidental, stating that she was suffocated by a pile of quilts that fell on her in one of the rooms.

"We informed Ayesha's family and the local police. After inspecting the scene, the police determined the death was accidental. We then took Ayesha's body to her home when neither the police nor the family responded," he explained.

However, Ayesha's family and residents have raised serious concerns, alleging that she was brought to the hospital with visible injuries and signs of torture. Despite the post-mortem and various tests being conducted, the hospital administration has not released the report, and the local police have yet to act.

In response to public outcry, the Lower Dir district police stated on social media, confirming that the Munda police have initiated a formal inquiry into the death of 8-year-old Ayesha. The inquiry officer has conducted a post-mortem, and the results of the medical report are awaited, which will guide further legal action. The officer has also visited the crime scene, collected evidence, and recorded necessary statements.

The Munda Police have stated that they are in contact with Ayesha's family, who are reportedly satisfied with the ongoing police inquiry and actions taken so far. The police have assured the public that anyone found responsible for the incident will be brought to justice.

Waheed Tajik, a local journalist, mentioned that attempts to speak with Ayesha's family have been unsuccessful, as they are reluctant to comment. Residents suggest that the stigma associated with the orphanage may be preventing people from speaking out.

In the meantime, public circles have launched a social media campaign to seek justice for Ayesha. They are appealing to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Commissioner Malakand, DC Lower Dir, and other authorities, to share photos of Ayesha’s injuries to highlight her plight.
