At least seven people were killed and 19 others injured in rain-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past 48 hours, as heavy rains, strong winds and flash floods caused widespread damage in several districts, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

The deceased include two men, four children and one woman, while the injured comprise seven men, one woman and 11 children, the PDMA said in its latest situation report.

The authority said 38 houses were damaged due to heavy rains and flash floods, including 36 that sustained partial damage and two that were completely destroyed after roofs and walls collapsed.

The affected districts include Khyber, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Mardan, Shangla, Bajaur and Lower Chitral.

The PDMA said it is coordinating with Rescue 1122, district administrations and other relevant departments, with relief operations continuing in the affected areas. District administrations have been directed to accelerate relief efforts and ensure the prompt distribution of assistance and essential supplies to affected families.

The authority also urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist destinations, and strictly follow official weather alerts and advisories.

Meanwhile, the PDMA Emergency Operations Centre remains fully operational. Citizens have been advised to contact the authority's toll-free helpline, 1700, for emergency assistance, weather updates and information.
