Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi chaired a video link meeting of the assessment committee for the Minority Endowment Fund, focusing on the rights and protection of minority communities.

During the meeting, it was decided that financial assistance checks would be issued this week to the victims of the 2013 All Saints Church Kohati Gate Peshawar attack. The seed money of the Endowment Fund was approved to be increased from PKR 200 million to PKR 400 million.

The Chief Minister also directed an increase in the aid amounts under the fund:

• Widows: from PKR 1 million to PKR 2 million

• Orphans: from PKR 0.5 million to PKR 1.5 million

• Disabled persons: from PKR 0.5 million to PKR 1 million

• Injured: from PKR 0.1 million to PKR 0.6 million

The meeting also included directives to establish a separate directorate for minority affairs within the Auqaf Department and to propose a development scheme for the restoration of minority residential colonies in the next Annual Development Program.

The Chief Minister stated, “The protection and welfare of minority communities is our constitutional and moral responsibility. The role of minorities in the country's development is invaluable, and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government stands firmly by their side. In line with the vision of our leader Imran Khan, providing equal rights and opportunities to minority citizens is a top government priority.”
