LAKKI MARWAT: Police have arrested suspects involved in the brutal murder of a young online entrepreneur, who was killed five months ago after being robbed of millions of rupees. The murder weapon and the victim's mobile phone have also been recovered.
Speaking at a press conference, SP Investigation Murad Khan Wazir revealed that on October 25, 2024, a missing persons report for Shoaib Khan was filed by his mother, Khadija Bibi. A special police team, under the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Jawad Ishaq, launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of the prime suspect, Muhammad Ilyas, on March 14 during a raid in Mohalla Machan Khel, Lakki City.
During interrogation, Ilyas confessed to the crime and guided authorities to the victim’s buried body in Wanda Katana. He later admitted to the crime in court as well.
Further investigations, aided by modern technology and intelligence sources, led to the arrest of a second suspect, Aftab Ahmed, who was attempting to flee to Islamabad. Police recovered the murder weapon—a .30-bore pistol with a silencer, five bullets—and the victim's iPhone from his possession.
According to the SP Investigation, the victim’s mobile account contained US dollars worth millions in Pakistani currency. The suspects murdered Shoaib Khan in cold blood and buried his body in a deserted area to seize the money.

Aftab Ahmed was also found to be a habitual criminal, confessing to involvement in a robbery at his own uncle’s house. Police recovered cash and jewelry from his possession, and further investigations in both cases are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Karak police foiled an arms smuggling attempt, seizing 32 pistols, nine Kalashnikovs, a repeater, a Kalakov gun, and thousands of bullets.
According to DPO Karak Shehbaz Ilahi, the advanced automatic weapons were being smuggled from Darra Adam Khel to southern districts, potentially for use against the state and security forces.
Police intercepted a suspicious vehicle and arrested two smugglers, identified as Piyawal Rehman and Khurram Shehzad. Both suspects were serving police officers, one posted in Kohat and the other in Karak.
The DPO stated that the suspects attempted to flee upon seeing a police checkpoint, but law enforcement swiftly took action, seizing the arms-laden vehicle. A case has been registered, and further revelations are expected during the investigation.
