The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to establish 72 Chief Minister Model Schools for boys and girls across all districts of the province during the next fiscal year, according to a briefing presented at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi.

The chief minister was given a detailed briefing on the proposed project and its initial framework. He directed the relevant authorities to immediately begin work on preparing the legal framework for the establishment of the schools.

Speaking on the occasion, Afridi said the Chief Minister Model Schools project would be a milestone in the government's education reform agenda. He said the schools would offer a modern teaching system, highly trained teachers, and facilities meeting international standards.

“Quality education is the fundamental right of every child, and these schools will provide students with access to modern educational facilities,” he said.

The chief minister emphasized that improving the quality of education remains one of the government's top priorities, adding that comprehensive and long-term reforms are being introduced to address challenges facing the education sector.

According to the briefing, the project is estimated to cost Rs9.5 billion. Separate legislation and rules will be formulated for the model schools, while a centralized Board of Governors will be established to oversee their administration and operations.

Afridi said the model schools would serve as an example of quality and modern education in the province, stressing that investment in education is ultimately an investment in the province’s future and human development.
