:Pakistan Army spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has reiterated that Pakistan’s policy is strictly against terrorism and terrorist groups, not against Afghans or the people of Afghanistan. He said Pakistan has not carried out any attack on Afghanistan, and if an operation is ever needed, Pakistan will act openly and with full responsibility, never secretly.

Speaking to senior journalists, the DG ISPR said Pakistan does not target Afghan civilians and has no hostility towards the Afghan population. He, however, emphasised that the interim Afghan government must fulfil its obligation to ensure that Afghan soil is not used for terrorism against Pakistan.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif revealed that militants involved in the recent attack on Wana Cadet College used American weapons left behind in Afghanistan, underscoring concerns about unchecked terrorist networks operating across the border.

He said several rounds of dialogue were held with Afghan authorities, but the Afghan side failed to take decisive action against these groups.

“Our demand is very clear — the complete elimination of terrorists present in Afghanistan,” he said, adding that Pakistan has repeatedly informed the interim Afghan government about the presence and activities of these militants.

The DG ISPR said that since 4 November, Pakistani security forces have conducted 4,910 intelligence-based operations, and investigations into four major recent attacks inside Pakistan confirmed the involvement of Afghan militants.

He said these groups continue to exploit Afghan territory and use weapons abandoned in Afghanistan to attack Pakistan.

Responding to a question about the court martial of Lt Gen (retired) Faiz Hameed, he clarified that it is an entirely legal and judicial matter and urged the public to avoid speculation. He added that the nation would be informed once the legal process concludes.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate terrorism and protect its citizens, saying Pakistan will continue its efforts, but the interim Afghan authorities must also take concrete steps to stop terrorist groups operating from their soil.
