Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohai  Afridi on Monday said the provincial government's top priority was public welfare, urging all departments to focus on delivering practical relief to people over the next three months.

Addressing a meeting of the provincial cabinet, Afridi appreciated the government's team for preparing what he described as a people-friendly budget during the last cabinet meeting of 2025.

He said the budget reflected the needs and aspirations of the public and stressed that public satisfaction would remain the government's true measure of performance rather than presentations and reports.

The chief minister directed authorities to ensure the participation of relevant parliamentarians in monitoring development projects across all districts to improve transparency and oversight.

Speaking about the recruitment of 2,400 doctors, Afridi said he had personally reviewed complaints submitted by candidates. He said most complaints were related to errors in candidates' mobile numbers, names and PMDC registration details, while around 21 complaints concerned merit.

He said an inquiry found the recruitment process to be transparent and in accordance with the prescribed merit criteria, adding that some candidates were not fully aware of the recruitment standards.

However, he invited any candidate with evidence of injustice to approach the Chief Minister's Complaint Cell, assuring that every complaint would be reviewed fairly.

Afridi said if any genuine case of injustice was established, the affected candidate would be provided justice and accommodated even after the recruitment process had been completed. He added that the province was facing a shortage of doctors and no qualified candidate would be ignored.

He further said the newly recruited doctors would be posted at the earliest to strengthen healthcare services and improve access to medical facilities for the public.

Reaffirming the government's commitment to transparency, Afridi said the provincial administration would continue to uphold merit and maintain zero tolerance for corruption in line with the vision of former prime minister Imran Khan.
