In a tragic incident in Tangi, a tehsil of Charsadda district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, two sons shot and killed their parents and critically injured their brother over a property dispute.
SHO Waris Khan of Tangi police station told TNN that on Tuesday morning in the outskirts of Hasanabad, suspects Ahmad Shah, Younis, and Hasan Shah engaged in a heated argument with their father, Zahir Shah, over the division of property. In a fit of rage, the sons allegedly shot and killed their father and stepmother. Their stepbrother, Wajid Ali, was also injured in the gunfire.
According to Waris Khan, preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased, Zahir Shah, had remarried and transferred some of his land to the sons from his second marriage, which angered his children from the first marriage.
The SHO stated that on the morning of the incident, the accused demanded their father transfer the property that was in the names of their stepbrothers to them. Upon his refusal, the sons opened fire, killing him.
Police reported that the suspects fled the scene following the attack, and raids are underway to arrest them. A case has been registered under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) based on the complaint of the injured brother, Wajid Ali.

Speaking to the media at the Tangi Headquarters Hospital, Wajid's brother, Waqil Khan, stated that their stepbrothers claimed they had given their father six lakh rupees over their lifetime and demanded the transfer of their father's hujra (traditional guest room) to their names: "However, our father insisted that his property had already been divided equally among his children from both marriages and that the hujra belonged to the sons of his second wife. He could not deprive them of their rightful share. This led to the brothers losing their temper and killing our parents while severely injuring my 15-year-old brother."
Waqil Khan has called on the government to ensure justice by giving the accused the punishment they deserve.
