Terrorists Attack Security Forces in Bannu, Killing One Officer and Injuring Four

Security sources reported that the area was cordoned off, and an operation was initiated to apprehend the assailants.

Unknown terrorists opened fire on a security forces patrol in the vicinity of Meryaan Police Station in the Ghwara Baka Khel area of Bannu.

The exchange of gunfire resulted in the tragic death of one security officer, Havaldar Sikandar, and left three others injured, including an SNGPL Gas Company official. The injured individuals were promptly transported to CMH for medical attention.

Security sources reported that the area was cordoned off, and an operation was initiated to apprehend the assailants. Helicopters were deployed for aerial surveillance in the ongoing operation.

Bannu has witnessed a series of attacks on security forces over the past two months, leading to casualties among security personnel. Just last month, in September, six suspected terrorists were neutralized in an operation in the Sardi Khel Jani Khel region. The operation, while successful, resulted in injuries to three FC personnel.

In another incident, terrorists targeted the Sardi Khel Baka Khel security checkpoint during the late hours of the night. Both sides exchanged gunfire with small and heavy weaponry, but the assailants fled the scene due to the swift and forceful response by security forces, resulting in the safety of security personnel.
