An alleged harassment incident involving a female lecturer was reported at Islamia College Peshawar, where students reportedly misbehaved with the teacher during a class test.

According to officials, the incident took place on May 12 during a test session. In a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor, the affected lecturer stated that she was conducting a test in the Department of Botany when several male students stood up, refused to attempt the paper, tore the question sheets and threw them at her.

The lecturer further alleged that the students left the classroom after creating a disturbance and locked her and female students inside the room. She said the same students later returned with others, entered the classroom again and threatened her, keeping her surrounded until around noon.

According to the teacher, the students again intercepted her when she tried to leave the class and demanded passing marks. She said she managed to leave the area with female students under severe mental stress.

A female student present in the classroom claimed that the lecturer was known for maintaining discipline and had warned students before the test that anyone caught cheating or talking during the exam would have their paper cancelled. The student alleged that this warning angered some male students, who then began threatening both the lecturer and female students.

Speaking to the media, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Saljoq Rahman said the university had taken immediate notice of the incident involving the female teacher. He confirmed that an inquiry committee had been formed and would soon submit its report.

The Vice Chancellor said strict action would be taken in light of the findings and stressed that the dignity and safety of teachers at Islamia College Peshawar would not be compromised.

Meanwhile, a senior professor at the institution claimed that seven similar incidents had occurred at the college over the past few months, including cases involving female teachers and students.
