A fresh report by the United Nations has revealed that the surge in terrorist attacks in Pakistan is linked to continued financial and logistical support provided by the Afghan Taliban to the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
According to the report submitted to the UN Security Council, the TTP maintains a strong presence in Afghanistan and carried out over 600 attacks in Pakistan in 2024. The Afghan Taliban are reportedly providing TTP with a monthly sum of $43,000 in financial aid.
The report further disclosed that new TTP training camps have been established in Afghanistan’s Kunar, Nangarhar, Khost, and Paktika provinces.

Additionally, the report highlighted the Balochistan Liberation Army’s (BLA) Majeed Brigade’s links with ISIS and the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), revealing that it, too, receives support from Afghanistan.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan government to prevent the use of its soil for attacks against Pakistan. Despite this, TTP militants continue to launch cross-border attacks. Pakistan has also provided the Afghan government with evidence of Afghan nationals’ involvement in acts of terrorism within the country.
