Like the rest of the country, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa marked Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Gratitude) with solemn reverence and national pride on Friday.
According to KP Information Adviser Barrister Dr. Saif, the day began with Quran recitations and special prayers after Fajr across the province, offering tributes to martyrs and praying for national security.
In the provincial capital, Peshawar, a 21-gun salute was held to honour the occasion, followed by flag-hoisting ceremonies at government offices and public places. At 10:00 a.m., a one-minute silence was observed in all government institutions to collectively pay homage to the martyrs.

Celebrations were also held across the tribal districts to mark the military success in Operation Baniyan-e-Marsous. In Miranshah, North Waziristan, tribal elders organized a special jirga attended by senior civil and military officials, including the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Miranshah, Major General Adil Iftikhar. The GOC praised the sacrifices and patriotism of the tribal people, acknowledging their vital role in the success of the operation. Participants expressed solidarity with the armed forces and paid tribute to the fallen heroes.
In Landi Kotal, district Khyber, a ceremony was held at the district administration compound. The event included a flag-hoisting, a rally, national songs, chants, and a collective prayer in memory of the martyrs. Officials including Assistant Commissioner Adnan Mumtaz, Additional AC Shahabuddin, Tehsildar Taimoor Afridi, and other departmental officers attended alongside local elders.
Educational institutions across KP also organized events to mark the day, where students and teachers highlighted themes of sacrifice, unity, and gratitude. Friday sermons were dedicated to the same themes.
According to the Information Adviser, special events are being held to honour the martyrs, including meetings with their families, laying floral wreaths at their graves, and visits to the shrines of national heroes.
Throughout the province, public squares, offices, and community spaces have been adorned with national flags and banners as a tribute to national unity and the sacrifices made by the armed forces.
