BabuSar Road has been reopened for traffic after being closed for seven months due to heavy snowfall. This vital route, connecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, was cleared of snow, allowing for the resumption of light traffic.
Deputy Commissioner of Diamir, Fayyaz Ahmed, announced that the road was officially reopened on Monday. Snow removal operations successfully cleared BabuSar Top and the surrounding areas, making the road passable again.
For now, vehicle movement on BabuSar Road is permitted daily from 5 am to 5 pm until Eid-ul-Adha. Due to potential hazards associated with climate change, including the risk of snow melting during the day and refreezing at night, travel is restricted to daylight hours.
