WANA: The District Headquarters Hospital Wana, operating under a public-private partnership in Lower South Waziristan, is on the brink of collapse due to government neglect. The hospital staff has begun a protest over eight months of unpaid salaries and the delay in releasing millions of rupees in funds allocated to MRM (Murph NGO), causing severe hardships for patients, including dialysis patients.

Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Hammad Mehmood stated that if salaries were not released soon, all hospital services—except for emergency care—would remain suspended, further aggravating the suffering of patients.

Senior ANP leader Malik Anwar Wazir expressed concern over the situation, urging the provincial government and health department to immediately release funds to resolve the crisis.

Residents have also demanded swift action from elected representatives and the provincial government, warning of mass protests if the outstanding dues are not paid. In a video message, Malik Miraj Wazir highlighted the worsening healthcare conditions in Wana and blamed the government’s inefficiency for the hospital’s decline.

The people of the region have threatened large-scale demonstrations if authorities fail to fulfill their commitments to the merged districts and restore the hospital’s operations.
