PESHAWAR: In a major announcement for students, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has declared that the provincial government will provide free laptops to students, matching the percentage of distribution in Punjab.
"We will provide laptops to the same percentage of students as Punjab. Similarly, the Punjab government should offer free health cards to its citizens, just as we have done in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," Gandapur stated.
He highlighted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had already provided the Sehat Card Plus facility to its entire population and was now introducing life insurance benefits. Challenging the Punjab government, he said, "Let Punjab also extend these services to its entire population."

The Chief Minister further claimed that despite challenges, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had increased its revenue by 55%, contrasting it with Punjab's 12% growth. He also revealed that the province currently holds a budget surplus of Rs. 176 billion and is the only province to have met the IMF’s financial targets, whereas Punjab, which was given a Rs. 300 billion surplus target, ended up with a Rs. 146 billion deficit.
Gandapur also announced that the government is facilitating the marriages of 4,000 underprivileged girls, providing Rs. 200,000 for each wedding.
Challenging Punjab’s performance, he asserted, "Punjab’s achievements do not even match 1% of ours. I am ready for a debate on this."
