DW Akademie and Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights have announced a joint practice-oriented training programme titled "Navigating Narratives on Migration and Scam Trafficking" for journalists from across Asia.

The programme will bring together media professionals from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia and Indonesia to strengthen responsible reporting on migration and raise awareness about scam-related exploitation.

According to the organisers, the training aims to equip journalists with the skills to report on migration in a responsible and ethical manner while helping them communicate how fraudulent schemes target migrants without compromising the dignity and rights of those affected.

The workshop will also examine the links between disinformation, algorithmic amplification, online scam operations, migration and forced displacement.

The training is based on Beyond Borders Toolkit, developed by journalists for journalists, along with OHCHR's narrative change methodology.

Interested journalists can submit their applications until July 27, 2026. Further information, including eligibility criteria and application details, is available in the programme's downloads section.
