The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has presented a budget worth Rs2.17 trillion for the fiscal year 2026-27, proposing significant allocations for development projects, health, education, law and order, and social welfare programs.
According to the budget documents, the Annual Development Program (ADP) has been set at Rs524 billion, while current expenditures are estimated at Rs1.645 trillion. The province is expected to face a budget deficit of Rs48 billion.
The budget includes a proposed 7 percent increase in salaries and pensions for government employees. It also recommends raising the minimum monthly wage by Rs5,000, bringing it to Rs45,000.
A total of Rs35 billion has been earmarked for the merged tribal districts, while Rs191 billion has been allocated for maintaining law and order across the province. The government has also proposed Rs200 million for its Good Governance Roadmap initiative.
In the social welfare sector, Rs15 billion has been allocated for the Ehsaas Mustahiq Program and Rs50 billion for the Sehat Card scheme. Additionally, Rs80 billion has been proposed for Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) hospitals.

The budget also includes Rs36 billion for the Peshawar Rehabilitation Program, Rs7.5 billion for the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, and Rs4 billion for the Khushhal Hazara Program.
To support marginalized communities and economic development, the government has proposed Rs51 million for minority self-reliance initiatives, Rs2 billion for the Ehsaas Kisan Program, and Rs2 billion in interest-free loans for individuals seeking employment opportunities abroad.
Furthermore, Rs2.5 billion has been allocated for electric bike and rickshaw schemes aimed at promoting affordable and environmentally friendly transportation.
Sector-wise allocations include Rs334 billion for health and Rs468 billion for education. The Local Government Department has been allocated Rs90 billion, the Home Department Rs29 billion, and the Transport Department Rs14 billion.
The budget also proposes Rs29 billion for agriculture, Rs42 billion for energy projects, and Rs28 billion for Zakat-related programs.
The provincial government stated that the budget focuses on public welfare, improved service delivery, job creation, and sustainable economic growth across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
