The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, warning of heavy rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms from July 19 to 23. District administrations, Rescue 1122, and all relevant departments have been directed to remain on high alert.

According to the PDMA, heavy rainfall is expected in parts of the province during this period. There is also a risk of landslides in Chitral, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.

The advisory warns of flash floods in streams and hill torrents in mountainous areas, while urban flooding is also possible in Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, and Abbottabad.

The PDMA has instructed authorities to ensure the advance deployment of emergency machinery, relief supplies, and rescue teams in vulnerable areas to enable a timely response to any emergency.

The authority also warned that strong winds and lightning could damage weak structures, electricity poles, billboards, trees, and standing crops.

Tourists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during the adverse weather and to stay away from rivers and streams. Farmers and livestock owners have also been urged to take precautionary measures to protect their crops and animals.

The public has been advised not to cross flooded roads, bridges, or rain-fed streams during heavy rainfall. In case of any emergency, citizens are encouraged to contact the PDMA's Emergency Operations Centre, which remains fully operational.
