During the ongoing budget debate in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur strongly criticized his own government's policies, development projects, and financial priorities, saying that injustice is the root cause of many problems and that no society can progress without justice.

Speaking in the assembly, Gandapur said that effective legislation in the public interest had not been carried out. He also stated that PTI founder should be granted the same rights as other prisoners, adding that he has not even been provided with proper medical treatment.

Criticizing development projects, he said that the "throw-forward policy" had increased the cost of several schemes. He stressed that making estimates alone is not enough; the real objective should be to provide facilities to the public. He questioned the logic of allocating only Rs4 billion for a project worth Rs200 billion.

The former chief minister said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has so far failed to secure its constitutional and financial rights. He demanded that the province be given its due share in the Net Hydel Profit (NHP) and the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award. He added that the people of the merged districts had made immense sacrifices but were still being denied their rightful funds.

Gandapur admitted that some of his policies regarding development schemes last year were not correct. He acknowledged mistakes in the distribution of funds to opposition constituencies and said he accepts responsibility for those errors.

He also termed the budget allocations for education and information technology inadequate, noting that only 5% of the total budget had been allocated to elementary and secondary education and IT, which he described as alarming.

He further said that against projects worth Rs2 billion in tribal districts, only Rs20 million had been allocated, while funds for several schemes had been spent before their completion.

The former chief minister emphasized that loans should only be taken for projects that increase the province’s revenue. He remarked that political leaders can hold meetings behind closed doors but often fail to unite on public issues.

Calling for an end to political vendettas, Gandapur said that if someone is in jail today, someone else could be there tomorrow, therefore politics of enmity should be abandoned.

He also urged the government to prioritize law and order, stating that the privileges enjoyed by rulers are funded through taxpayers' money.
