PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted rain and hailstorms in Peshawar and several other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), offering a potential break from the intense heat that has gripped much of the country in recent days.
According to the Met Office, weather patterns are expected to shift starting today, with the likelihood of rain accompanied by hail in various areas of KP, including Peshawar, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Lakki Marwat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Karak, Khyber, and Swabi. Mardan, Kurram, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Waziristan, Kohat, and Hangu will likely experience similar conditions.
Peshawar, which recorded a high of 39°C on Monday, may see relief with overcast skies, dust storms, and the possibility of intense showers and hail. The department has warned that hailstorms could affect urban and rural areas, potentially damaging solar panels, trees, and electric poles.

In Sindh, areas like Sukkur, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Larkana, and Khairpur may experience thunder and showers during the evening or night. Balochistan districts, including Quetta, Zhob, Khuzdar, Chaman, and Mastung, are under similar forecasts.
While high temperatures remain in place for parts of southern Pakistan, the onset of this weather system could bring short-term relief. D.I. Khan recorded a scorching 43°C, followed by Bannu at 42°C, with Peshawar and Mardan hitting 39°C.
