The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a heatwave advisory, warning that most of the country’s plains will remain in the grip of intense heat for the next four days. Citizens have been urged to take precautionary measures, especially during daytime hours.
According to the PMD, daytime temperatures in Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal between May 13 and May 24.
Meanwhile, temperatures in central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan could rise by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above average.

On Monday, the highest temperature recorded in the country was 48°C in Dadu and Jacobabad.
Other major cities also experienced intense heat: Larkana, Rohri, and Sibi recorded 46°C, Peshawar 43°C, while Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and Muzaffarabad registered 41°C. The temperature in Islamabad reached 39°C, Quetta 36°C, Karachi 35°C, and Gilgit 34°C.
Health experts have advised the public—particularly children, the elderly, and outdoor laborers—to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during peak hours and to stay well-hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses.
