PARACHINAR: Residents of Parachinar continued their protest for the second consecutive day against the prolonged blockade of roads, which has left around 500,000 people without access to food and medical facilities.

Despite the harsh winter, citizens, including men, women, and elderly individuals, staged a sit-in outside the Parachinar Press Club, demanding the immediate reopening of roads. Addressing the protesters, Malik Zartaj, Musarrat Bangash, and other leaders criticized the authorities for their inaction, stating that over 100 villages and the entire city of Parachinar have been cut off for the past five months, causing severe hardships for the residents.

The protest leaders vowed to continue their sit-in until the roads reopened. They also expressed deep concern over the food blockade during Ramadan, which forced people to break their fasts with just water. They demanded immediate access, which would restore access to essential supplies and ensure the security of travel routes.

Meanwhile, members of the Bugin tribe are also holding a separate sit-in, demanding relief for Bugin victims and action against those responsible for the damages inflicted on their community.

On the other hand, the district administration stated that efforts are underway to restore road access and provide relief to the affected population. Authorities assured that once the highways are reopened, the supply of food and essential goods will be resumed without further delay.
