Security sources have rejected any suggestion of compromise with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Bajaur, saying that attempts are being made to deliberately create ambiguity regarding ongoing talks between tribal elders and the militants.

According to the sources, militants in Bajaur are living among the civilian population and engaging in terrorist and criminal activities. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and security officials have presented three clear points to the tribal elders:

1. Expel these terrorists, most of whom are Afghans, from the area.

2. If the tribes cannot remove them, vacate the area for one or two days so that security forces can eliminate them.

3. If neither is possible, ensure maximum efforts are made to avoid collateral damage, as operations against the terrorists will continue under all circumstances.

Security sources stressed that there is no question of holding talks with militants or their facilitators at the government level unless they fully surrender to the state.

They said the ongoing tribal jirga is a logical step to ensure maximum public safety before launching any action. However, they emphasized that neither religion, the state, nor the values of the brave people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa permit any compromise with the enemies of Islam and the state.

Security sources also made it clear that the authority to carry out any armed action rests solely with the state.
